Al Gore Did Me a Favor–Just Not on Purpose

Talking about lies and the rationalizations thereof brings Al Gore to mind.

All my life, I’ve had a problem with specific words I can’t bring to mind. There aren’t many, but it irritates the tar out of me that there are any.

One such word is “algorithm.” (Don’t get ahead of me here.) Algorithm is a big time word nowadays. Doctors decided a while back to no longer treat patients’ symptoms, but to rely on “standard of care” algorithms instead. This basically means pretty much nobody gets better, but nobody can successfully sue, either.

Well, this arrogance against patients must be routed. It demands a good rant now and again.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get a good rant going when you can’t think of the very word at the center of the problem? Arguments lose all kinds of credibility when you stand there looking stunned, unable to continue.

But, lo! One day I recognized the synchronicity between my elusive word and Al Gore’s name. Problem solved.

Thanks, Al.
