Confidence Is Different From Pride
How did this such-a-worm-as-I theology get such a grip on church people? I can’t take credit for anything, I can’t be proud of my accomplishments. All day long, for crying out loud!
Ya gotta twist the Scriptures pretty hard to come up with that mess.
Pride, thinking you’re better than other people–maybe even better than God–is wrong because it is the antithesis of love.
But confidence is required. If you have no confidence in yourself, you can’t love yourself, just make excuses. If you can’t love yourself, you can’t love others, just find fault.
When babies learns to walk, they haven’t an ounce of concern that other people are better at it than they are. They just keep on keeping on, gleefully smiling at the wonder of it all as they go.
And that should be our model.
We’ll never be perfect. Comparing ourselves with others is fool’s play. Just keep on keeping on, gleefully smiling at the wonder of it all.
God sees you as worth his sacrifice, and he wants to take you places you never thought of–if you have the confidence to stride out in response to his call.
