Defining Christianity
What do I mean when I say I’m a Christian?
As I used to tell the kids, it means I made Jesus Christ my boss. Look at it this way: Jesus knows the reason I’m alive, and he knows me better than I know myself, and he knows all about my tomorrows. I don’t know any of that, so it only makes sense that he does a better job at being boss than I every could.
It doesn’t mean I have all the answers, although some days it may appear that I think so. And it doesn’t mean that I’m all high and mighty. I have my own unique set of talents and skills, but then, don’t we all? Even if people don’t choose to use their stuff, they still have it.
I don’t have to worry about “The Secret.” God’s power is part of my life, so I don’t have to manifest, levitate, gyrate or whatever it is that people do when they want God’s power, but not God. They talk about “the god within,” but it turns out they’re talking about themselves. Well, let me tell you: If I were God, I’d be taller and thinner. For starters. And I know for a fact I wouldn’t pray to me.
Here’s how all this boils down: Whatever you read on this blog comports with the Bible’s idea of Christianity. I don’t do smarmy, even though that passes for religiosity in some circles. I try not to pontificate–which is really a shame because, even without much effort, I’m good at that. But I know if I forget myself and let it fly, people will start slinking out of the room, trying not to make any sudden moves.
So, you’ll read my thoughts about politics, political correctness, medicine, business, and on and on. There’s not a whole lot that doesn’t interest me. You don’t have to agree with me, of course. Just as long as you’re civil about it.
I know two things for sure: Life is good, and God is good. Neither’s easy, but both are good.
