God likes confidence

Listening to Christians talk about their unworthiness gets wearisome. Especially since such conversations never go anywhere. Around and around the such-a-worm-as-I barn they go, savoring their lack of value so highly they’d like to assign it to everybody else, too.

Well, I wasn’t worthy to receive God’s love, either, but he gave it to me anyway, and I am unworthy no more. Let me put it this way: If somebody offered me a gazillion dollars to be Miss America, I’d swallow any talk of unworthiness–however obvious to casual observers–grab the tiara and start practicing the wave.

And a gazillion dollars pales in comparison to God’s offer to allow me to be his child.

The wonder is why more people don’t realize the fabulous deal they’re being offered–and grab it with gusto.

Perhaps all that whining about unworthiness keeps people away, lest they have to take up whining, too.
