One Christian Difference
Lots of people say all religions are basically the same, a belief system around which you build your life. Not so with Christianity.
God created us. He knows us inside and out. So he tells us that there’s no way on his green earth that we can be all he wants us to be, say all he wants us to say, do all he wants us to do, no matter how much we put our shoulder to the wheel, our nose to the grindstone and whatever other cliche you’d like to throw in.
We need help. Sometimes it’s hard to admit how badly we need help. Inside all of us are the remnants of our two-year-old selves saying “Do it myself!”
And now we’re all grown up, but, without help–big time help–we’re about as successful as that two-year-old in being what the Bible describes as a Christian.
God, of course, knows this.
So when we make Jesus our boss, he moves in to help. His spirit “melds” with our spirit, adding God’s strength to our weakness, God’s wisdom to our foolishness, God’s peace to our fear. This is no small deal. In fact, the Bible says we’re a whole new person.
No way!
Way! Oh, indeedy, way!
Debbie didn’t like my answer. Let’s talk about it some more next time.
